Lot's of people work out to get strong or get big in the bodybuilding sense of the word. Lot's of people are disappointed because they don't see the results they are looking for. There are many factors to consider, like the way you work out, how much weight you use and how you perform your reps. To make gains you have to continuously increase your weights within a scope of accomplishment. For instance if you are doing 3 to 4 sets of one body part. You should start light to warm up then increase your weight with each set. Maxing out on your last set so you only get a couple or few reps. Considering you normally want to get 8-10 reps per set. This type of training is what works for making gains in size and strength.
Then another great way to make good gains is to throw in a heavy day. After doing your routine say 3-4 times over a couple weeks take a day to just use heavy weights. Don't jump right in to going heavy you should always do a warm up set using light weights. After your light set you can take a max weight that you are sure you can get 3-4 reps. Use this for your sets and increase each proceeding set with more weight. Making sure you can get at least one rep by the end of your sets. This is a great way to confuse your muscles and make great gains. Using this formula you will see results.
